I think this one may be coming from Gary Chaffee too. I learnt this in college many moons ago.
Play a single stroke roll, 16th note. From the last 16th replace each 16th by two 32nd notes. 4 bars each, until we fill up the whole bar by 32nd, then back the other way we go
